Resource: Shifting the Evaluation Paradigm: Equitable Evaluation Framework
I came across this publication recently, a partnership between the Equitable Evaluation Initiative (EEI) and Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO).
They propose a framework for evaluation as a field to think about equity and our long-held beliefs and assumptions about how to do M&E. They present the EEF, which at the very least should get conversations going about how to improve our work and shift power imbalances.
For example, we don't often look at the role of equity and power while doing evaluations. Then when you look at evaluations within the philanthropy area, the power imbalance gets even more problematic.
It looks at Edgar Villanueva's work on Decolonising Wealth, which encourages philanthropies and especially foundations in the US, to rethink the way they approach their work and relationships with grantees.
Take a look, I hope you find it useful!
